Filters can be used dry or oiled, but in our experience these filters perform most consistently when used dry. This is because the use of oil will cause the filter to gradually dry out over the period of use, which can change the strength of the carburetion and fuel mixture. If your filters are DRY, always protect the outside filters of your bike from direct rain to avoid flooding one filter when the bike is parked. This can affect the carburetion and make the bike difficult to start until the filter is dry. Filters are end sealed with high gloss chrome end caps. Filters come in a wide variety of sizes and filters to meet the needs of any modern street bike or custom application.
The basic rule is to find the diameter the filter will fit and install the largest filter possible in the space allowed. After removing the standard airbox and installing a custom filter, you may need to readjust jet sizes and change pilot jet screw settings. This should be done using a plug color test and a precision brass (not plastic) main jet available from our affiliate company A-BAX Engineering.
